Presidents' Day

Presidents' Day or officially known as Washington's Birthday is a U.S. holiday observed on the third Monday of February to honor all the presidents of the United States. This federal holiday honors the first president of the United States, George Washington. 

This is a holiday in certain states as Washington's Birthday or Presidents' Day, and Washington's and Lincoln's Birthday. There are some variations in some states and it is written as President's Day or Presidents Day. This is because some states commemorate either all U.S. presidents, Washington and Lincoln, or others such as Thomas Jefferson.

New York is one of the states that observe this holiday and public places usually close. The College of Staten Island and all CUNY schools also close.

The campus The College is set on a large campus with woodlands and open spaces in Staten Island. Its attractive facilities include technologically advanced laboratories, a Sports and Recreation Center and a Center for the Performing and Creative Arts. Campus location The College is twenty-five minutes by ferry from Manhattan. Our students have easy access to the rich cultural life of the City by way of a ferry shuttle ride located on the CSI campus. The ferry shuttle travels directly to the Staten Island ferry. Lincoln's Birthday

Lincoln's Birthday is a public holiday in some U.S. states, observed on February 13, 2023. President Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky.

Not all the U.S. states observe this holiday. These U.S. states usually close to the public either on February 12: Kentucky, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Texas, California, Missouri, and New York.

In other states, Lincoln's Birthday is celebrated along with President George Washington's birthday.

The first observance that historians wrote about is the one occurred in Buffalo, New York, either in 1873 or 1874. This holiday is celebrated at the Abraham Lincoln Birthplace National Historic Site in Hodgenville, Kentucky, and at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Lincoln's Birthday is sometimes observed along with George Washington's birthday and Presidents' Day on the third Monday of February in some U.S. states.

When you “get back on your feet,” you return to financial stability. In a different context, it also means 'well or successful again after being sick on having problems.'

Example: After losing her job 4 months ago, Nancy finally got back on her feet again.
